Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us. We, The Compost Bag Company UK , have a few fundamental principles that we follow:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, and to perform a contract (e.g. having a purchase delivered to you by a carrier)
  • We only store personal information while we are doing business together, though it may then remain dormant for six years after your last transaction (an Inland Revenue requirement).
  • You have the right to be forgotten (deleted) and to see and edit your personal information at any time – an easy way to do this is an email to unsubscribe
  • All our data is kept securely, including all backups etc, within the EU or if in the USA within a Privacy Shield Compliant cloud server.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, we collect non-personally-identifying information (eg ‘cookies’) of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. This information does not identify you personally but we collect it to better understand how visitors use our website. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifying information in an ‘aggregated’ form e.g. by publishing a report with statistics on how our site is used.

We also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs. We only disclose logged in user and commenter IP addresses as described below and it should be remembered that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to our websites choose to interact in ways that gather personally-identifying information. For example, we ask visitors who comment on our blog to provide a username and email address. Those who wish to receive our updates may leave an email. We collect only what we need, in line with how you want to interact with us. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. If you choose to make an online purchase the transaction is performed through our payment service provider, currently WorldPay. We at The Compost Bag Company cannot see, store or gain access to any card details you give WorldPay and they send us only enough personal information to complete the purchase or request. Those personal details are then covered within this policy.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

We disclose personally-identifying information only to our employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf (eg a carrier delivering a purchase) and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Backup copies of all our information may be located within the EU or in the USA (in which case it is ‘Privacy Shield Compliant’.). By using this website, you consent to our handling of such information in this way. We will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. We may be legally required to disclose potentially information in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request.

If you have supplied your email address and agreed to be contacted we may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date. We expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you publish messages (comments or blogs for example) they will be visible to others.
